It is a system with its own rhythms: mandatory e-filing, probate notes posted before hearings that must be cleared in advance, referee appraisals, and hearing continuances that punish sloppy paperwork with months of delay. Executors living out of state lean on us to be their presence in that building, and most never need to set foot in it.

Most of our clients call from the cities strung between the Verdugos and the San Gabriels, along the 2 and the 134. The freeways connect them, but the legal work in each one has its own character, and knowing the difference is part of the job.

Glendale: our home base on South Brand

Glendale is where the firm lives, and the legal work here starts a few blocks from our door. When a crash happens at Brand and Broadway, at Central and Colorado, or on the short merge where the 2 meets the 134, the investigating agency is usually the Glendale Police Department, whose reports our injury practice pulls as a matter of routine. Being local means we can photograph an intersection the same week we are hired, while the skid marks and the sight lines still tell the story.

A Craftsman bought for five figures in the 1960s can carry a seven-figure value today, and Proposition 19 narrowed the parent-child reassessment exclusion in 2021, generally to a child who moves in and only up to a value cap, so whether to keep, rent, or sell an inherited bungalow is now partly a property tax question that belongs inside the trust design. We also plan for the Caltech and JPL households across town, coordinating university retirement accounts, spinout equity, and provisions for relatives who are not U.S. residents.

On the injury side, the 210's transition zones near the 134 split, the storefront miles of Colorado Boulevard, and Rose Bowl event days each produce a recognizable kind of crash, and event-day claims especially reward fast evidence work: camera footage, witness names, and scene photos gathered before the barricades come down. La Cañada Flintridge: where a trust is the default

Home values in La Cañada Flintridge put nearly every estate past California's small estate threshold, which makes a funded living trust less a choice than a convention. Without one, a family faces a public, court-supervised probate with statutory fees calculated on the gross value of the home, paid to both the attorney and the personal representative. A trust avoids the proceeding and keeps the family's affairs private, which is how this community prefers them. Parents of school-age children add guardianship nominations, naming who would raise the kids rather than leaving that decision to petitions filed by whichever relatives come forward, and hillside ownership raises its own planning question: a trust that will hold a foothill home for years should say who maintains the insurance and how premiums are paid.

When injuries happen here, they happen in two registers: serious crashes on Angeles Crest Highway, where speed and long emergency response times raise the stakes, and the ordinary left-turn and school-hour collisions along Foothill Boulevard.
